These ladies woke up at 3 am and were sitting outside of The Music Box theater at 4 am till the box office opened (at 10am) in hopes of getting us standing room tickets for tonight's performance of "Dear Evan Hansen" (Papa had to work at 8 so they so kindly let me stay in my bed). They literally slept on a sidewalk in the rain, on a cardboard box for six hours and got us tickets to this incredible show.
Kayla and I have seen the show but Kadye had never seen it so it was a must for their trip- I told them we had to leave at 6:30 pm so we can be there on time in case the trains decide to be difficult- stuffed our faces with Chinese take-out and we were out the door at 6:45 (whoops). And what do you know- there's "mechanical issues" and we just sit there for 20 minutes, the worst is assumed but the trains come through (I also questioned God's ability and well, he proved me wrong- or it just worked out because it worked out #religion). We run, literally run through the streets and sidewalks of a very busy Times Square, we get to the front of the theater and we are all just sweating but on time and guess who is walking into the theater as we arrive- Miss California girl herself, Katy Perry. Yep- freshly pixie cut Katy Perry (she's absolutely gorgeous and beautiful- we saw her several times, she's stunning). The show was incredible, we laughed, we sobbed, we were moved and then we had pizza and some wine and it was just a great day and these are the adventures that make this city worth living in- you cannot have this sort of experience anywhere else in the world and that's important and these ladies are important to me. Bless you and your good hearts, bless Ben Platt and that voice (#kissmebenplatt) and bless Katy Perry and all of us chained to the rhythm. Today was a perfect day, and that's enough. #dearevanhansen #benplatt #timessquare #nyc #katyperry #wavingthroughawindow #wordsfail #goodnight
