..."Tomorrow's Shine" a ya-du
The dull fog sits,
mourning its dreams.
No bliss, nor smiles,
Just yesterday's dread hope for no more sorrow.
With fog so glum,
today's sun wakes,
and from bright rays,
dawn shines with smiles.
Springtime's promises placate fog’s nighttime trials.
..."Tomorrow's Shine" is my submission for letter Y of the poetic forms journey led by @areadingwriter with fellow travelers @flightofpoesy and @whiskeyandpens.
...Ya-Du, or ritu (season), is a stanzaic form dedicated to the seasons. The theme should express the emotions the seasons evoke. The form is a 15th century Burmese pattern using a climbing rhyme.
Springtime often is nights of cold with promises of warm tomorrows.
The defining features of the Ya-Du are:
...syllabic. L1-L4 tetrasyllabic (4) and L5 may be 5,7, 9, or 11 syllables (4 - 4 - 4 - 4 - ( 5,7,9, or 11)
...stanzaic, written in no more than 3 cinquains.
...rhymed. The form employs a climbing rhyme in which the 4th syllable of L1 rhymes with the 3rd syllable of L2 and the 2nd syllable of L3. L4 and L5 end rhyme.
...a work dedicated to the seasons and the emotions they evoke.
...You're welcome to jump aboard. However, we've only one more stop. Please use the tag #ALetterADay. See posts by @areadingwriter for more in depth definitions of the various forms.
I'll add the tag #fliptheswitch from @writing.for.the.calm via a #writingchallege by @genreurbanarts to write something that begins with some #morose vibes and then flips over to #positivity.
