Good morning friends! If you guys like ice cream for breakfast, then this strawberry banana smoothie is for you!! Today is my rest day and I slept for a full 8 hours last night!! I started a new weight training program, and it has left my body feeling completely wrecked. So today, I'm refueling with healthy food and doing a little active recovery. To make this smoothie, 1) layer the bottom of a cup or bowl with pats and fresh cut strawberries. Let the mixture soak in a bit of nut milk. 2) blend together your favorite vanilla protein powder, I use @sunwarriortribe brown rice protein (not the pea protein), and added almond milk, frozen strawberries and half a banana into the mix. I always add a little xanthan gum for extra fluffiness. 3) blend until smooth. 4) pour over oatmeal and strawberries. 5) top with some fresh kale sprouts. 6) eat with a spoon and pretend you are eating ice cream. #nomnom #smoothie #thephysicianskitchen #medschoollife

I shared this in my stories yesterday, but this bread by @veganmario is PERFECTION. 🍞 It’s such a treat to have vegan, gluten-free sourdough that mimics the texture of traditional sourdough without any gross ingredients!! (Just alkaline water, brown rice flour, quinoa flour, tapioca, potato starch, psyllium husk, and pink salt.)That’s it! I bought it at @erewhonmarket but it looks like they may ship. _ Have you made any life-changing gluten-free discoveries lately?!

Holeeeee-yyyyyyyyy hazelnuts!! Ever made homemade Nutella??Saw this photo @the banana_diaries and got so inspired. Thank you, Britt. Here is my versionπŸ˜€It's dreamy, decadent and down right to die for. And super EZ. Our family polished off the entire recipe in an afternoon!! Ingredients: 2 cups raw hazelnuts 1/2 cup melted extra virgin coconut oil (room temp) 3 Tablespoons cacao powder, such as @navitasorganics 2 Tablespoons maple syrup, plus more to taste 2 teaspoons vanilla 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt Toast hazelnuts in 350 degree oven until aromatic and lightly brown, 10-15 minutes. Transfer nuts to kitchen towel, wrap them in a kitchen towel and let steam for 1 minute. Rub nuts in towel to remove loose skins. Don't worry about skins that don't come off. Separate the nuts from the skins. Combine hazelnuts and melted coconut oil in high speed blender and blend until consistency is smooth. Add remaining ingredients. Sometimes I like to switch it up for breakfast and switch out eggs (crazy I know πŸ˜†). This easy chia breakfast pudding is not only yum πŸ‘… but is also great for mornings when you just don't have time ( like most of mine) β€’ 1 cup milk of choice (I used coconut) β€’ 1/4 cup chia seeds β€’ 1/4 tsp coconut nectar β€’ 1 scoop protein or collagen (I used @plantfusion vanilla) β€’ 1/4 cup of keifer (I used @foragerproject cashew keifer) β€’ Toppings of choice Mix the milk, chia seeds, protein of choice and coconut nectar in a mason jar and shakey shakey. Let sit over night, and in the morning pour in the keifer to mix it up a bit. Add the toppings and enjoy!

Last night I realized I was all out of my frittata, so I whipped up some easy peasy egg muffins for the rest of the weekπŸ™†πŸ»πŸ˜‹. These are my favorite for a quick grab and go breakfast πŸ³βœŒπŸΌπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’ Egg muffins 6 eggs plus 2 egg whites 4 asparagus stalks diced 3/4 cup mushrooms diced 2 handfuls of spinach 2 garlic cloves minced 1 Tbsp jalapeΓ±o 1/4 cup red onion diced 1/4 cup @bonafideprovisions Chicken bone broth SautΓ© all your veggies in a pan on medium heat for 5 minutes with the bone broth. Let cool completely and in separate bowl whisk your eggs and pour into veggie mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bake 350 for 15-20 minutes.

Today we finally got to hike! Two of the four trails have been closed since 2012, so we hiked the two that remain, from Monterosso to Vernazza and then to Corniglia. We logged 20,000 steps and 200+ fights of stairs before noon!! I had picked out three different restaurants with gluten free options and all three were closed today (😭) so at the end of the hike we went for gelato instead. 4.27.17 I think you'll find the most core and lower body workouts here in my feed because they are my favorite to work and to come up with effective circuits. This one targets your entire core, not just your "abs". That means it's strengthening your sides and your back as well as the front of your torso. ...1️⃣ + 3οΈβƒ£πŸ‘‡πŸ» The downward dog movement can be done a little slower than shown (I was trying to fit it all in under a minute). When your leg goes up go back onto the heel of the leg planted as well as getting your shoulders and body into as straight of a line as ya can. Then come down into a plank (shoulders over hands and body parallel to the floor) while the raised leg is pulled as high as your abs will get your knee to your arm. This isn't a swing, it's a CRUNCH with your obliques. Lower leg/knee to point at the ground then lift it as high with your glutes (squeeeeze) as you can as your body goes back into the downward dog. Whew! ... 2οΈβƒ£πŸ‘‡πŸ» This is where we take the oblique we just worked and work it some more while getting the one on the other side nice and warm for it's then with the downward dog crunchy thing. Don't cheat yourself by bringing your heels closer to your body. Make sure you are lifting your shoulders off the ground so you can tap your heels. Along with obliques we are engaging the abdominal wall so it's more activated for the plank. ... 4οΈβƒ£πŸ‘‡πŸ» Then PLLLAAANNK. Tuck that tush and focus on your entire core keeping your body totally parallel to the floor. ... This one, when done for 30-45 seconds an exercise for 3-5 rounds without resting is intense. There's a reason I can do some of the harder strength exercises and that's because I work my ENTIRE core. Not just the abs you see. I actually rarely do "crunches". The best fitness advice I ever got was to rest. It can feel like you should be working out hard 5-6 days a week, but really taking time to rest is where the shift happens. I approach fitness much like I do food... I listen to my body, I change it up a lot and I keep it playful. Right now i'm focused on yoga and running, 3 months from now I'll be doing something else, but whatever I do, I give myself at least 3 days of real rest and recovery. I can say that I've seen major changes in my body by following the rest rule. #healthybody #fitness #strongandradiant

Eenie meenie miney mo. Catch a tiger by the toe... . Can't drink coffee?? No prob. I've found something better ✨πŸ’₯I heat up @califiafarms unsweetened almond milk, add cinnamon, MCT oil or @bulletproof brain octane oil, a scoop of @furtherfood collagen for healthy bones, gut and protein, and then add a scoop of @perfectketones for a ketogenic boost. Then blend that all up. It tastes SOOO GOOD. While I don't think the whole intermittent fasting is for me (adrenal issues) this would be a great way to enjoy something before intaking solid foods!! Happy Thursday everyone!! Time for some studying then @otheoryfitness at 12 βœ¨πŸ’«

who needs jam when ya got the real thing?? #torystoptips my fav sub for jam, (which is often loaded with added sugar or even HFCS πŸ™€ and preservatives) is to just add fresh fruit to my morning toast πŸ™ŒπŸ». just do a little smoosh action πŸ˜‰ (technical terminology only πŸ’) to get those berries πŸ“really stuck on there! works like a charm πŸ‘ŒπŸ». my fav combo is @wholefoods unsweetened/unsalted peanut butter and fresh raspberries, but any nut butter and berries will do. give it a try, post a photo with your favorite combo and #whatsontorystable so I can see!!

peanut butter jelly time 🎢 with this smoothie! I've recently started incorporating more veggies into my smoothies (besides just like...kale) and it's actually so refreshing because they're not always green now! and I feel more full satisfied without sugar crashing from too much fruit! wow! food is amazing y'all. try blending frozen cauliflower, beets, etc. into your smoothie like I did with this number right here. it really helps make them #thicc if ya know what I mean 😏 #kalemyvibe #realfood

French toast Thursday is here! πŸ™ŒπŸ» Celebrating my last workday of the week with post- leg day cinnamon bun collagen French toast πŸ˜πŸžπŸŽ‰. . . πŸ‘‰πŸ» Combine a dash of cinnamon, 4 egg whites, 4 tbsp Cashew milk, 1 tbsp @mrm_usa cinnamon bun protein, & 1 tbsp @vitalproteins collagen peptides. Soak 3 slices cinnamon raisin Ezekiel @foodforlifebaking bread in mixture then cook on a skillet with coconut oil until nice & crispy πŸ’« Topped with berries, vanilla @siggisdairy, & a spoonful of @wild_friends sugar cookie PB! After I made this French toast, I was about to take a huge bite out of it and then I remembered that I hadn't taken the picture yet 😊. Does that ever happen to anyone else?? β€’ β€’ I made French toast with @labreabakery honey sunflower bread. I used a mixture of milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and eggs and then cooked it in ghee. Then I covered it in PB and fruit because who needs syrup when you have PB?

Something's goin down in the kitchen! These are just some of my groceries from this week. I swapped out almond milk for cashew to change things up and got some @farmhouseculture kraut for digestion. I notice I feel better when I rotate foods and when I have more fermented foods in my diet. Also just made a new batch of water kefir! More on that tomorrow.

Finally, a meal prep salad that didn't get soggy. πŸ₯—πŸ™πŸΌ This simple salad is made of leafy greens, sliced radishes, red onion, avocado, sunflower seeds and goes with a simple tahini, lemon and olive oil no mix dressing. πŸ’―πŸ’― All credit goes to @minimalistbaker!
