Depois, os participantes dos dois grupos foram divididos em três equipes para tentar diferentes tipos de exercício. No final da pesquisa, os cientistas anotaram de novo as medidas dos participantes e descobriram que todos os tipos de exercício melhoraram a condição física. O treinamento de força foi o que apresentou melhor resultado para aumentar a massa muscular. Por sua vez, quanto o HIIT foi combinado a um treino, a capacidade aeróbia de homens e mulheres melhorou bastante. Segundo a revista norte-americana Time, o HIIT, embora tenha mostrado resultados na aparência e na condição física, mostrou um benefício maior em relação às células.
